preconditions: 12" non-stick skillet
|2 pounds of Lean Ground Beef|
8 slices of Bacon
1 8-oz. can of Mushrooms (drained)
1 medium Onion (diced medium)
2 tsp. Onion Powder
1 tsp. Garlic Powder
1 tsp. or more Salt (to taste)
1/4 tsp. fresh ground Black Pepper
- Mix together, meat, onion powder, garlic powder, salt and pepper. For 4 nice thick patties with meat. With palms of hands make nice high flat sides on patties. Take two pieces of bacon, wrap on slice around meat on one side and do the same with second piece of bacon on the other side. Where they come together on both sides, loop the bacon ends around each other a couple of times to hold it in place. Heat your skillet on medium-high heat.
- Place steaks in skillet not touching. Cover and cook 8 minutes, uncover and gently turn steaks over. Cover and cook 8 minutes more.
- Uncover, with fork press down on center of steak. If juices run clear, steak is done, if juices are not clear continue cooking and checking often so you do not dry out the meat.
While meat is cooking, prepare vegetables. Saute' mushrooms and onions in 1 Tbsp. butter until onion is soft. Keep hot until meat is done. To plate, place 1 steak on dinner plate and top with 1/4 of vegetable mix.
